Material & Fabrication Researcher (m/f/d) — 50% Position
Bio-based Extrusion & Large-Scale 3D Printing | Aachen, Germany | Sustainable Tech Start-up
You studied architecture because you wanted to understand how things are made — not just how they look. You wrote your thesis on digital fabrication, robotic construction, or material systems. Now you want to work on something real.
Willowprint develops bio-based robotic construction systems using Willowpaste, a patented wood-fiber building material printed at large scale with industrial robotic systems. We operate at the frontier of material research, computational design, and sustainable manufacturing.
We are looking for a Material & Fabrication Researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of this technology from the inside.
Your tasks
Translate digital models into print-ready files and fabrication workflows
Operate and maintain our robotic printing and extrusion setup
Support Willowpaste material testing and extrusion runs
Document process parameters and print results systematically
Your profile
Master's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related discipline
Hands-on experience with 3D printing or digital fabrication
Knowledge of robotic fabrication is a plus
Rhino/Grasshopper knowledge is a plus
Genuine interest in material-driven research and bio-based construction
Precise, curious, and comfortable in an early-stage research environment
We offer
Direct involvement in an active material and robotic fabrication research program
A role at the frontier of bio-based construction technology
Close collaboration with university research environments
A small, committed team working on problems that haven't been solved yet
Send us your CV and a link to your portfolio or fabrication work samples to hello@willowprint.eu(please do not attach files larger than 3mb)
